Old Valentines day in class writing assignment

Day of Love?
The stores are filled with people.
Candies, presents, and flowers are bought.
What is the meaning of the day?
Society has turned it into a day of presents.
But what matters is the loved ones you have.
Boyfriends, girlfriends, or just friends and family.
This day is about being with them.
Love the ones who loved you.
Presents don't matter anyway.
Just being together is more than enough.
You cannot buy love, so don't even try.
Do something from your heart.
That will show just how special they are.

The Drop
When I was eleven years old my parent’s went to the beach for the weekend and left us alone. My older brother Brenden, who was fourteen, was in charge of me Collin, who was eight, and Dillon, who was five. It was either that Saturday or Sunday when Brenden got his idea. He told us to go and get all the pillows and blankets in the house and put them in a pile on the first floor. Brenden liked being in charge, since he could boss us around, but sometimes he took things too far. After we got the pillows and blankets and piled them up Brenden went upstairs.
Our second floor was like a balcony to the first. Brenden and Dillon are the daredevils of the family, so we knew he was up to something. He climbed over the railing and jumped. I was scared when he first jumped, since he could get hurt. He landed in the pile and got real excited, saying how fun it was and we all had to try it. Dillon was the first to run up. He climbed right over and jumped letting out a little squeal. I was really nervous about jumping. I was so scared I would get hurt. I climbed over the railing then inched my way to a sitting position, since I figured I’d be closer to the ground. I took a breath, closed my eye and let go. I think I screamed a little, but I don’t remember. Once I landed it was like a rush of adrenaline surged through me.
Dillon, being his crazy self was up ready to jump again. Collin is more like me. He is timid and shy. He was really scarred to jump. Brenden got upset and started teasing him. Finally, he picked Collin up, held him over the pile, and dropped him. Collin was in tears while Brenden did this. I remember yelling at him and being very mad he made Collin cry, but I don’t recall what I said. Collin ended up liking it, and once he calmed down, he did it on his own. We had so much fun that day. We jumped off the balcony for hours. I learned that sometimes it is good to let go and live on the edge. We only have one life to live. However, you should do things in your own time, not forced by someone else.

7 word challenge

It is time, I need a break.
Freedom calls at least to me.
No more test taking.
Only loud bees, buzzing around the trees.

I sit under the clear blue sky.
Eating an apple, so sweet and juicy.
Classes in August. Oh Why?
For Summer is the best season, you see.

My Woods Adventure

A few days ago my older sister Ashley and her boyfriend Josh took me on a walk, through Grammy's woods. I have been on walks back there before and it is really fun. I love going on walks. We did not go right on the trail because it was really muddy. Josh carried me on his shoulders as we walked through the woods. I told Ashley I wanted to go in the water, but she said no because it would be cold, even though it was warm outside. She told me it has to be warm like Florida to go in the water. As we walked, we found some pretty yellow flowers growing. We decided to pick them on our way back, so I could give them to Mommy. There were three geese in the water so I waved and said hi to them. They did not talk back this time. I was holding both Ashley and Josh's hands now while I walked, since we were now on the trail. They counted to three and swung me up in the air. I love when they do that. It is so much fun. After a couple more times, I did a backflip when they swung me. It was so cool. We got to the part were a stream passes through the trail. We climbed down the bank onto a lot of rocks. Ashley stepped onto a log and had Josh hand me to her. She set me down and held my hands. We began to walk across the log to get to the other side. I was doing really good. We were almost across when I slipped. I fell in on my side, and Ashley went in too, but she only got her legs in the water. It was so cold!. I was shivering. They quickly took off my shirt and shorts, since it was all wet. Josh took off his long sleeve shirt, since he had a short-sleeve one under it, and put it on me. They shirt help to get me all warm. Ashley carried me and rubbed my back to warm me up. She joked and said I got to go swimming like I wanted. I said no it is so cold. We continued our walk up to what we call "The Bat Cave". It is a cave back in the woods. I went inside, but fell and hurt my butt. Ashley carried me back down the big hill and we headed back to Grammy's house. We stopped and picked the flowers that we had seen earlier for Mommy. That walk was sure an adventure. I had so much fun, even though I did fall in the water. I can't wait to go on another walk.
